News Release
January 15, 2022

Thanks to Team Toronto’s continuing vaccination efforts, 70 per cent of Toronto residents aged 70 years and older have received their COVID-19 booster shots. Team Toronto has been delivering third doses at City of Toronto-run clinics, mobile clinics, hospital partner clinics, and more than 525 local pharmacies and doctors’ offices.

Last month, Team Toronto ramped up vaccination efforts to help all eligible Toronto residents get their third dose of COVID-19 vaccine. On January 10, the City announced that more than one million third doses of COVID-19 vaccine had been administered.

Team Toronto continues to vaccinate thousands of residents this weekend.

Today, Team Toronto continues to hold clinics that will work to administer COVID-19 vaccine to kids and education workers, ahead of the return to in-class learning next Monday.

Yesterday, Toronto Public Health (TPH) opened 8,000 new appointments on the provincial booking system for eligible Toronto residents to book to receive their first, second or third dose of COVID-19 vaccine starting tomorrow, Sunday, January 16, or Monday, January 17, at any of the five City-operated mass immunization clinics. Appointments are still available for tomorrow and Monday.

The new vaccination appointments for eligible adults and kids are part of the continuing efforts to make progress in helping Toronto residents get vaccinated.

Given the emergence of the new Omicron variant and ongoing community transmission of the Delta variant, TPH urges all eligible residents to book their third-dose appointment. Residents who have not yet received their first or second COVID-19 vaccine shot are encouraged to do so as soon as possible. COVID-19 vaccines lower the risk of serious illness, hospitalization and death, while protecting oneself, loved ones and the community.

The following vaccination clinic locations are operating today:

City-run immunization clinics

The five City-run immunization clinics continue to add new appointments for first, second and third doses of COVID-19 vaccine. To book an appointment, click the blue “Book a Vaccine” button on toronto.ca/covid-19 or call 1-833-943-3900. City-run clinics are easily accessible by transit and offer free parking on site. Clinic staff are also able to provide resources in multiple languages. A person with a vaccination appointment can also bring a support person to help with translation.

While City-run clinics and health care partners across the province await further shipments of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine later this month, all City of Toronto-run clinics will administer the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to residents 30 years of age and older.

People with vaccination appointments are asked to arrive no more than 10 minutes early to vaccination clinics. There will be vaccine doses available for everyone who has an appointment; arriving earlier than necessary does not impact availability. There are no walk-in appointments at City-run vaccination clinics. More information on City-operated immunization clinic transportation options and on-site amenities is available on the City’s COVID-19: How to Get Vaccinated webpage.
