The Major Snowstorm Condition and Significant Weather Event declarations, which came into effect on Thursday, January 15, will end at 5 p.m. today.
These declarations helped improve the efficiency of winter road maintenance by prohibiting parking on designated snow routes, enabling crews to plow and remove snow from roads, sidewalks and bike lanes faster and more effectively.
Targeted snow removal (hauling away snow piles) is continuing in high-priority locations across the city including transit corridors and school loading zones to keep the city moving, improve accessibility and create capacity for future snowfalls.
Drivers are reminded to avoid parking where temporary orange “No Parking – Snow Removal” signs are posted as crews will be removing the snow from these areas within 24 hours of the sign being posted. Vehicles parked on streets with these temporary signs could be fined or towed at the owner’s expense. Where possible, drivers should consider off-street parking to keep roads clear for crews to complete snow removal as quickly as possible.
The City of Toronto continues to accept 311 service requests for snow clean-up. Residents can report areas that need attention by calling 311, on the City’s website or the 311 Toronto app
