Mayor Olivia Chow today announced the early opening of 15 outdoor pools and 16 wading pools across Toronto, giving residents more opportunities to stay cool, active and safe as summer temperatures begin to rise. 

Pools are one of the effective ways to safely cool down and reduce the risk of heat-related illness during extreme heat. According to health-care professionals, immersion in water is effective in helping to cool the core temperature.  

Beginning today, 15 outdoor pools are open to the public on weekdays from 4 to 8 p.m. and weekends from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Residents can now dive into summer at one of the following outdoor pools:   

  • Donald D. Summerville Olympic Pools 
  • Fairbank Memorial Park 
  • Giovanni Caboto Outdoor Pool 
  • Gord and Irene Risk Community Centre 
  • Goulding Outdoor Pool  
  • Grandravine Outdoor Pool 
  • Heron Park Outdoor Pool 
  • Knob Hill Outdoor Pool 
  • McGregor Park Outdoor Pool 
  • O’Connor Outdoor Pool 
  • Ourland Outdoor Pool 
  • Parkway Forest Outdoor Pool 
  • Pine Point Park Outdoor Pool 
  • Riverdale Park East Outdoor Pool 
  • Sunnyside Gus Ryder Outdoor Pool 

The City operates and maintains more than 50 outdoor pools across Toronto in the summer, all of which will be open for their regular operation by the end of June. 

  • Saturday, June 20: All remaining outdoor pool locations open for partial hours 
  • Weekdays: 4 to 8 p.m. 
  • Weekends: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. 
  • Friday, June 26: All outdoor pool locations open for regular hours. 

When a Heat Warning is issued by Environment and Climate Change Canada, the City extends hours at eight designated outdoor pools, keeping them open until 11:45 p.m., compared to the regular 8 p.m. closing time. 

Before visiting, individuals and families are encouraged to check the schedule for their preferred pool online, as operating hours and programming may vary by location. 

The following 16 wading pools will open early for the summer on weekends from Saturday, June 13 through Sunday, Sept. 6, from noon to 5 p.m. All remaining wading pools will be open on Friday, June 26, operating daily until Sunday, Sept. 6. Please check individual location schedules online before visiting:

Splash pads, which are operated by push button, remain open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. now through Sunday, September 13. 

Most outdoor pools close for the season on Sunday, Sept. 6 with the initial 15 pools remaining open from Tuesday, September 1 until Monday, Sept. 7 weekdays from 4 to 7 p.m. and weekends from noon to 7 p.m.
