Tomorrow, Mayor Olivia Chow will be joined by Toronto City Councillors and guests to celebrate National Flag of Canada Day at an event featuring a flag-raising ceremony and a special performance of “Welcome to the Rock” by the cast of the original Canadian production of the multi-award-winning global sensation Come From Away. Internet sensation Brittlestar, Ontario’s first Poet Laureate Randell Adjei and Flavio Volpe, head of the Automotive Parts Manufacturers’ Association, will also join the mayor.
This year marks the 60th anniversary of the Canadian flag.
The public is invited to attend this free event, with attendees encouraged to show their Canadian pride by wearing red and white. Following the flag-raising ceremony, a skate party will take place on Nathan Phillips Square. Free hot chocolate and a selection of food trucks will also be available.
