Non-partisan advocacy group of 1,200 members, founded in 1977, to preserve the Leslie Street Spit as a public urban wilderness. Friends of the Spit work within the democratic process to ensure that the spit remains a car-free environmental resource, accessible at no cost. Recipient of four environmental awards.
