Drop-ins

Over 50 drop-in centres across Toronto provide basic services such as food and showers as well as help to find housing or stay housed. For a list of drop-in centres and contact information, see Toronto Drop-in Network .

The Assessment and Referral Centre located at 129 Peter Street, phone 416-392-0090; open 24 hours for single adults, couples and youth who are street involved.

Emergency Shelter

Do you need emergency shelter?
  • Call 311 or
  • Central Intake 416-338-4766; 1-877-338-3398 (toll-free within the GTA) A central referral service for people who are homeless or at risk.
  • Out of the Cold 416-699-OOTC (6682)
  • The Canadian Red Cross and WoodGreen Community Services can help you if your rooming house has been closed down because of a fire, flood or any other disaster.
  • 311 for City services, programs and information.

Leave the street behind
Those who are street involved and want a break from the weather and the street can go to the Streets to Homes Assessment and Referral Centre at 129 Peter Street (at Richmond).
Walk-in housing services available 9 am-12 pm Monday to Friday. Referrals and transportation assistance to available emergency shelter beds on offer to walk-ins from 8 pm to 8 am.
Call 416 392-0090, 24 hours a day.

As always, clients can access emergency shelter by calling 311 or Central Intake toll-free from any phone booth 1-877-338-3398.
