129 Peter St. purchase approved
At its meeting on May 25, 2007, Toronto City Council approved the purchase of 129 Peter Street in the downtown core for use as an Assessment and Referral Centre (ARC) and 40-bed emergency shelter.

129 Peter Street

110 Edward street is now closed and will be demolished to make way for 300 units of affordable housing. The Assessment and Referral Centre has been temporarily re-located to 67 Adelaide Street East at the Adelaide Resource Centre for Women. There are no beds attached to this location. The ARC will be permanently housed at 129 Peter Street once building renovations are complete.

The overnight ARC provides a welcoming and safe place for many people deciding to leave the streets or looking for shelter. It is an important component of the Streets to Homes program and the plan to end street homelessness in Toronto.
