Union Station Revitalization
Pedestrian bridge reconstruction
As part of the state of good repair work at Union Station, the City of Toronto is completely replacing the pedestrian bridge that runs along Front Street between the Station and the sidewalk. The pedestrian bridge will be torn down and rebuilt to better reflect the architecture of the Station and ensure the safety of the area.
The reconstruction of the pedestrian bridge will take 12 to 18 months to complete. This work includes a two-phase demolition of the entire pedestrian bridge from the north face of Union Station to the edge of the sidewalk along Front Street. See the diagrams of the construction area and where the hoarding will be placed.

The work will require the installation of 10-foot high hoarding along Front Street and down the middle of the pedestrian plaza between Union Station and Front Street. The appearance of Union Station during construction is important. The City of Toronto will ensure the facility remains clean and beautiful throughout the construction process.
During the phase one construction, access to the Great Hall from Front Street through the west-side doors of Union Station will be blocked. Pedestrians will have to use the eastern doors to enter into the Great Hall. The east-side entrance will be blocked during phase two of the reconstruction; pedestrians will have to use the west-side entrance to access the station.
