The City of Toronto has developed the Water Efficiency Plan, a comprehensive initiative to reduce water use. The Water Efficiency Plan is made up of a number of incentives and educational programs for residents and businesses. Reducing current water use will ensure that Toronto's water system can meet the needs of a growing city.

You are invited to Spring Awakening, a free spring gardening seminar on May 1, 2010, featuring guest speaker Lorraine Mennen. The seminar will provide tips and tricks to help make your garden fabulous and water efficient!

Unleash your urban farmer at Canada Blooms

Take A Load Off Toronto!
Save $140 on a new Energy Star® qualified clothes washer and get a free eco-friendly drying rack.

From April 1 to June 30, visit The Home Depot or Caplan’s Appliances stores in Toronto for an instant $80 off ENERGY STAR qualified washers and a free drying rack (while supplies last) from Toronto Hydro. Combine this with the $60 mail-in rebate on high-efficiency washers from the City of Toronto’s Residential Washer Replacement Program for a total savings of $140.

Change of Requirements for Toilet Rebate Eligibility
On July 1, 2009 we changed our requirements for toilet rebate eligibility to comply with Unified North American Requirements (UNAR). If you purchased a toilet in 2009 that was formerly on our list but was removed due to the change in standards, you must submit your application for a rebate to our office by December 31, 2009. The current list of eligible toilets can be found here.
Free lawn and garden visits, reserve now!
Toronto Water is now reserving spaces for the 2010 Summer WaterSaver Visits. To date we have helped over 7,000 homeowners save water by creating water-efficient landscapes. When you sign up for a visit, a trained landscape advisor will come to your home and answer your gardening questions absolutely free of charge - offering a wide range of advice from dealing with weeds to planting a water efficient garden. You will also receive a WaterSaver gardening kit and much more! Space is limited! Sign up now by calling the Water Efficiency Office at 416-392-7000, or email your name, address and contact phone number to savewater@toronto.ca.
