The City of Toronto provides up to two days paid leave of absence for employees who become Canadian citizens
This policy applies to all non-union city employees
The city provides up to two days of paid leave for an employee to become a Canadian citizen. One day is provided for attendance at citizenship court, provided that the ceremony takes place during an employee’s normal working hours.
Employees must advise their executive director/general manager/division head or designate of the date they will be going to citizenship court and provide proof of their attendance.
Employees must inform their executive directors/general managers/division head or designate in writing, of the dates of the examination and citizenship court.
Employees may be required to provide supporting documentation if requested.
