From mid-September to late 2026, the off-leash area will be closed for construction. Visit the Project Updates section for more information.

The City is improving the off-leash area for dogs in Baird Park. The improvements will include new fencing, surfacing and accessibility upgrades.

    • Spring 2026: Detailed design
    • Summer 2026: Hire a construction team
    • Early Fall 2026: Construction starts, off-leash area closes
    • Late Fall 2026: Construction complete, off-leash area reopens

    September 2026

    Construction Update

    Construction for the off-leash area improvements will start in mid-September and is anticipated to continue until late 2026. Improvements to the playground are also being completed, and sections of adjacent pathways will be temporarily closed during construction.

    The nearest off-leash areas are located at Earlscourt Park and High Park.

    May 2026

    Detailed Design

    The project is in the detailed design phase where the technical details are finalized for the improved off-leash area. A construction team will be hired in summer 2026.
