Starting August 1, 2026, the Fair Pass Transit Discount Program will return to the eligibility review process adopted by City Council when the program was established. Reviewing eligibility helps ensure the Fair Pass discount continues to be provided to eligible residents and that clients receive important program updates.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Fair Pass discounts were renewed automatically as a temporary measure. Reviewing eligibility helps ensure the Fair Pass discount continues to reach eligible residents and that the City has up-to-date contact information to share important program updates.
If you are actively receiving Ontario Works (OW), Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) or Toronto Children’s Services Child Care Fee Subsidy (CCFS) benefits, you may not need to reapply. The City will review the information already on file to confirm your eligibility. If we need more information, we will contact you and share the next steps.
Some Fair Pass clients will be required to submit a new application to confirm their ongoing eligibility for the program. Clients who need to complete a new application will be notified 45 days before their discount expiry date and provided with information on next steps. To avoid interruptions in their discount, clients should submit any required application before their expiry date.
If you are not actively receiving these benefits, you may be required to submit a new application to continue receiving your Fair Pass discount.
If you need to reapply or provide additional information, we will contact you 45 days before your Fair Pass discount expires.
If you have an email address on file, you may receive an email with information about your eligibility status and any next steps. If you do not have an email address on file, we may contact you using other contact information available in your account.
To help ensure you receive important updates, please keep your contact information up to date.
If you are asked to submit a new application to confirm your ongoing eligibility, you can complete the application using any of the following methods.
