Fair Pass Transit Discount Program
The City of Toronto’s Fair Pass Discount Program is for eligible adult residents receiving Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP), Ontario Works (OW) assistance or a Toronto Child Care Fee Subsidy.
The Fair Pass discount is programmed onto a PRESTO card and cardholders must load funds to access the discounted Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) adult fare or TTC monthly pass.
- The PRESTO card is not transferable and is intended for the approved Fair Pass discount cardholder only.
- The minimum amount that can be loaded onto a PRESTO card is five cents ($0.05) and loading money online can take up to 24 hours for funds to be available to use.
- The Fair Pass discount is valid for 12 months from the date of issuance; the funds on the PRESTO card will not expire.
Eligible residents will receive a 12-month Fair Pass discount programmed onto a PRESTO card. Cardholders will save $1.05 on the TTC adult fare for a single ride and $31.65 on a TTC adult monthly pass.

You are eligible for the Fair Pass Discount Program if you are an adult resident of Toronto and you are in one of the following three categories:
- Receiving Ontario Works (OW) assistance and not receiving transportation supports equal or greater than $100 in the current month (i.e. Employment or Medical Related) through OW.
- Receiving Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) and not receiving transportation supports equal to or greater than $100 in the current month (i.e. Employment or Medical Related) through OW or ODSP.
- Receiving Child Care Fee Subsidy and registered for a My Child Care Account, with a current Canada Revenue Notice of Assessment listing an income level that meets Fair Pass program criteria.
Youth, post-secondary students and seniors already receive the same level of discount and therefore do not need to apply for the Fair Pass Discount Program.
To apply for the Fair Pass Discount Program, you must complete and sign an application and consent form. You can also obtain forms by mail or at any Employment & Social Services or ODSP office in Toronto.

Families who are eligible for the Fair Pass discount will receive an email informing them they have a notification in their My Child Care Account (MCCA). Once logged in to MCCA, there will be a Fair Pass Transit Discount Program notification with a link to complete an online application for the discount.
NOTE: Families who receive OW or ODSP will not receive this notification and must apply through the OW/ODSP method.
You must load money or an adult TTC Monthly Pass onto your PRESTO card. The PRESTO card is not transferable and is intended for the approved Fair Pass Discount cardholder only.
When you travel for a single ride on the TTC, tap your card on a PRESTO device and the discounted single fare will be charged. If you purchase an adult TTC monthly pass on a PRESTO card, the discount will be applied at the point of purchase for unlimited travel for the month. You will still need to tap your card on a PRESTO device instead of showing it to a collector/operator.

You can load funds on your PRESTO card online, by calling the PRESTO Contact Centre at 1-877-378-6123, using PRESTO self-service machines at any TTC subway station or by visiting any Shoppers Drug Mart location.
You can purchase monthly passes online, from PRESTO Fare Vending Machines at TTC subway stations or at any Shoppers Drug Mart location.
A renewal is required after 12 consecutive months of receiving the Fair Pass discount on your PRESTO card.
You do not need to submit a new application or consent form to renew your discount. It will be renewed automatically as long as you still meet the program’s eligibility criteria. All you need to do is tap your card at any TTC PRESTO card reader to complete the renewal process.
If you have questions about your eligibility, your discount has expired, you have a concern about the discount or you are not a registered cardholder, contact your caseworker or call 416-338-8888 for more information.
If you are a registered PRESTO cardholder, you can confirm your discount expiration date by logging into your My PRESTO account.
You can use the PRESTO card to take trips on other (non-TTC) transit systems (e.g., GO Transit, UP Express), however the savings will not be applied to the fare for other transit systems. The savings will only be applied to TTC fares.
- First you need to purchase a replacement PRESTO card:
- If you have a My PRESTO Account, the discount and the balance can be transferred to the new card by contacting PRESTO.
- If you do not have a My PRESTO Account, you will need to call 416-338-8888 so the discount can be applied to the new card.
IMPORTANT – If you have replaced your PRESTO card you must contact 416-338-8888 to advise staff of your new PRESTO card number. This ensures that your discount can be correctly renewed in the future.
