Work

Work crews have repaired the underside, or sub-structure of the Parkside Bridge on The Queensway.

Work is currently progressing well on the topside of the bridge.

Travel Restrictions

One shared travel lane in each direction on The Queensway.

Dates

April 5, 2021 to present*

NOTE: The completion date of this stage was planned for July 22; however, due to a series of unexpected utility conflicts at the KQQR intersection, work was put on hold. Work crews resumed Stage 1 work the week of September 6. 

The Stage 1 completion date is now expected to be in late October.

Times

Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (additional hours as needed)

Locations

  • KQQR Intersection
  • The Queensway: KQQR intersection to Parkside Drive
  • Queen Street West: KQQR Intersection to Triller Avenue
  • Roncesvalles Avenue: KQQR intersection to south of Grafton Avenue

Work Scope

  • Watermain replacement and sewer relining (completed)
  • TTC and road work (outer lanes): Work crews will undertake the following work: TTC pole replacement, overhead wire removals and installation, track work, (lighting, platforms, curbs etc.), retaining wall installation, road reconstruction (base, curb gutter, sidewalk)

Travel Restrictions

  • Pedestrian access will be available at all times
  • A minimum of one shared travel lane in each direction along The Queensway and King Street West will be maintained for vehicles and cyclists
  • KQQR intersection will be closed. East-west travel will be accommodated via The Queensway and King Street West
  • Queen Street West will be closed to vehicular traffic from the KQQR intersection to Triller Avenue
  • Unauthorized parking is not allowed in active work zones.

  • The Queensway Median: Parkside Drive to Sunnyside Avenue
  • Beaty Boulevard Park: southwest corner of KQQR intersection
  • King Street West: KQQR Intersection to approximately 100 m south thereof

Work Scope

  • Watermain replacement and sewer lining: Please refer to work details listed in Advance Work.
  • TTC and road work (inner lanes): Work crews will undertake the following work: TTC pole replacement and overhead wire installation, track work, (lighting, platforms, curbs etc.), road reconstruction (base, curb gutter, sidewalk)
  • Streetscape work: Work crews will undertake streetscape improvements at Beaty Boulevard Park.
  • Bridge rehabilitation: Work crews will repair The Queensway bridge at Parkside Drive (inner lanes).

Travel Restrictions

  • Pedestrian access will be available at all times
  • A minimum of one lane of traffic in each direction along The Queensway will be maintained for vehicles and cyclists
  • KQQR intersection will be closed with exception of east-west access through the intersection via Queen Street West
  • King Street West will be closed to vehicular traffic from the KQQR intersection to approximately 100 m south thereof
  • Unauthorized parking is not allowed in active work zone.

  • TTC and road work Queen Street West to Harvard Avenue: Work crews will undertake the following work: TTC pole replacement, overhead wire removals and installation, track work, (lighting, platforms, curbs etc.), road reconstruction (base, curb gutter, sidewalk)
  • Harvard Avenue to Dundas Street West: Work crews will undertake the following work: Platform upgrades for accessibility

Travel Restrictions

  • Pedestrian access will be available at all times
  • Roncesvalles Avenue will be closed to vehicular traffic from just north of Queen Street West to Harvard Avenue. Infrequent lane closures can be expected from Harvard Avenue to Dundas Street West.
  • People cycling may dismount and use available sidewalks
