Toronto Paramedic Services Chief Bikram Chawla and members of Toronto Paramedic Services’ leadership team recognized 73 graduates today, including 43 Primary Care Paramedics, 15 Advanced Care Paramedics and 15 Emergency Medical Dispatchers, marking an important milestone in strengthening emergency medical care and emergency telecommunications across Toronto.
The Primary Care Paramedic graduates, having successfully completed comprehensive orientation and training, now join Toronto Paramedic Services’ dedicated team of professionals who deliver exceptional pre-hospital care to the city’s three-million residents and visitors. Serving alongside them are the highly skilled Advanced Care Paramedics, who bring the expertise of a hospital emergency department directly to patients’ bedsides, enhancing emergency medical care and clinical outcomes across Toronto, every day.
Toronto Paramedic Services’ Emergency Medical Dispatchers are a critical part of patient care, serving as the first-point-of-contact for those in need. Through advanced communications training, clinical prioritization and calm, co-ordinated response under pressure, Emergency Medical Dispatchers ensure the right care is sent at the right time, supporting frontline response and contributing to the well-being of all Torontonians.
These 73 staff members will play an important role in supporting the city as emergency call demand continues to grow, helping ensure Toronto’s residents receive high-quality emergency medical care when it is needed most.
Becoming a Paramedic or an Emergency Medical Dispatcher demands extraordinary dedication, resilience and the ability to perform under pressure. Toronto Paramedic Services recruits and trains its professionals through a rigorous process, welcoming individuals who bring diverse skills, experience and a strong commitment to public service.
