Today, the City of Toronto, Toronto Police Service, Toronto Transit Commission and Metrolinx shared updates on how the Toronto is ready to host six matches and FIFA Fan Festival™ Toronto from Thursday, June 11 to Sunday, July 19. 

Know before you go 

Stadium ticketholders  

  • Plan ahead to visit Toronto Stadium. Check entry requirements, what is allowed and what to leave at home to help ensure a smooth entry to the stadium and spend more time enjoying the match. 
  • Fans should arrive three hours before kickoff for live entertainment, giveaways and more. 

FIFA Fan Festival™ Toronto attendees  

  • A digital ticket is required for entry to FIFA Fan Festival and there are no onsite sales.  

Getting around 

The City, in co-ordination with transportation and public safety partners, released its FIFA World Cup 2026™ Mobility Plan, outlining how residents, businesses and visitors will move throughout the city during the tournament, including measures to support accessible travel and minimize overall travel impacts. 

The City’s multi-agency approach to managing transportation during the FIFA World Cup 2026 and builds on Toronto’s experience delivering major events. People are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra time, travel outside peak periods, and take transit, walk or cycle. 

What residents and visitors can expect: 

  • The City is implementing transportation and traffic management measures to support travel during the FIFA World Cup 2026™, particularly in areas near Toronto Stadium (at Exhibition Place), Liberty Village, Fort York, the waterfront, Toronto Stadium and FIFA Fan Festival™ Toronto. Temporary adjustments will be in place, especially in the downtown core. 
  • Temporary traffic and parking measures, including road closures, parking restrictions, turn restrictions, and curb lane changes, will vary by location and timing, with different measures in place on match days and throughout the FIFA World Cup 2026™ to support tournament operations. 
  • Public transit will be the primary way to travel to and from matches and events. There will be no public parking available at Toronto Stadium or in surrounding neighbourhoods, including Liberty Village and Fort York, where local access restrictions will be in place. Transit service adjustments will be implemented to support increased demand. 
  • Transit service on key routes will be increased and dedicated direct service is offered. 
  • Walking and cycling will be supported by enhanced routes and increased access to bikes through BikeShare TO and temporary cycle parking. 
  • Vehicle-for-hire access will be limited to designated pick-up and drop-off areas on event days outside restricted areas surrounding Toronto Stadium, Exhibition Place and FIFA Fan Festival™ Toronto at Fort York National Historic Site and The Bentway, where vehicle access is limited to support event operations, safety and crowd management. 
  • Traffic operations and signal timing adjustments and increased presence of Traffic Agents and Toronto Police will be used to manage increased demand, supported by a Unified Mobility Co-ordination Centre monitoring conditions in real time. 
  • Enhanced wayfinding signage has been placed at various transit hubs and along the primary routes to Toronto Stadium (at Exhibition Place) and FIFA Fan Festival™. This is in addition to the City’s Getting Around Guide, a FIFA World Cup 2026™ Toronto specific map, available through transit and hospitality providers as well as volunteers positioned along the identified walking routes and transit hubs that will guide fans to where they are going.

FIFA Fan Festival™ Toronto 

  • From Thursday, June 11 to Sunday, July 19 the City is sharing the experience of the beautiful game with fellow fans at FIFA Fan Festival™ Toronto, where communities unite and passions are shared. Participants will enjoy live entertainment, match broadcasts, interactive experiences and more than 30 food vendors serving flavours from around the world. 
  • The City has committed to community access at FIFA Fan Festival™ Toronto by providing free general admission tickets, which are now claimed. To ensure more Torontonians have access to the festival, the City will be providing 500 tickets for each day of the festival to community groups across Toronto. 
  • Premium tickets for FIFA Fan Festival™ Toronto are still on sale for those interested in experiencing all that the festival has to offer. Tickets are available on the FIFA Fan Festival™ Toronto webpage, along with information about entry requirements: www.torontofwc26.ca/FIFAFanFestival 

FIFA Countdown Concert – June 10  

  • Fort York National Historic Site and The Bentway, the site of FIFA Fan Festival™ Toronto, will host a first-of-its-kind, three-city concert to kick off the FIFA World Cup 2026™. 
  • The 90-minute concert connects Toronto with simultaneous live shows in Mexico City and Los Angeles, uniting three cities, three countries, and the world, through the universal languages of music and football. 
  • The Toronto line-up includes Bryan Adams, Nora Fatehi featuring Sanjoy and Vegedream, and AHI & Wyclef Jean, alongside live performances from Mexico City and Los Angeles. 
  • Tickets are $36 (plus taxes and fees). Premium experiences are also available.

  • Investing in free, local soccer programs and expanding access to the sport in underserved communities 
  • Building new soccer mini-pitches at four parks across the city, with more to come 
  • $1.7 million invested in community-led celebrations during the tournamenInclusive workforce development programs, which provide Indigenous, Black and equity-deserving youth access to employment, training and career exploration opportunitiesEast-West Water Shuttle Pilot: Through the FIFA World Cup 2026™ Legacy Program, fares on Toronto match days and all weekends from June 12 to the end of the month will be $5 for travel directly between Ookwemin Minising and Portland Slip, with extended service hours from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.  
  • Pride House Toronto welcomes the world to their 2SLGBTQ+ space for the duration of the tournament. 
  • Future of Soccer Summit: an initiative with Toronto Metropolitan University where global leaders in sports will convene on June 8 to celebrate and showcase Canadian impact on sport technology and innovation

Toronto Stadium 

  • The City, in partnership with Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE), has completed upgrades at Toronto Stadium, which will improve the fan experience and ensure the stadium is tournament ready.  
  • The upgrades meet FIFA technical and broadcast requirements while supporting the stadium’s continued use for professional sports, concerts and major events after the tournament.  Toronto City Council approved funding for stadium upgrades as part of the City’s FIFA World Cup 2026 hosting agreements. The total project cost is $157.9 million, including $132.9 million from the City and $25 million from MLSE. The upgrades support FIFA requirements and the City’s long-term major events strategy.  

Centennial Park Training Site 

  • Centennial Park, through the Soccer Hub, serves as Toronto’s official venue-specific training site for the FIFA World Cup 2026™. 
  • The training site includes a regulation-sized pitch and fieldhouse to support team operations during the tournament and has been integrated into broader park improvements for long-term community use. 
  • The site is eco-friendly as the building heats and cools itself using geothermal wells.  
  • FIFA has operational control of the training site through to the end of the tournament. Following the tournament, the facility will be returned to the City for public use, supporting local leagues, community programming and recreational activities. 

Celebrating across Toronto 

  • The City, with support from the Toronto Arts Council, is investing $1.7 million in local community celebrations in summer 2026 during the FIFA World Cup 2026™ that celebrate Toronto’s host city theme, “The World in a City.” More than 63 projects will turn areas throughout the city into vibrant hubs of activity during the tournament. 

Toronto Police Service 

  • Public safety is always our top priority. Fans can expect to see a significant and visible police presence both inside and outside Toronto Stadium, FIFA Fan FestivalTM Toronto and the Last Mile, which concentrates around these venues, as well as Liberty Village, Fort York and key transportation hubs. Officers will be supporting crowd management, traffic flow, and overall public safety. 
  • Please celebrate responsibly. Drones remain restricted in and around Toronto Stadium, FIFA Fan FestivalTM Toronto, Centennial Park and Downsview Park. Fireworks are also not permitted – anyone found in possession of or lighting fireworks may face charges. 
  • Please follow directions from police, security, and event staff. 

Metrolinx 

Metrolinx has special GO Transit and UP Express services planned for FIFA World Cup 2026™ in Toronto to help keep commuters and soccer fans moving safely and quickly across the region. 

  • Beginning Wednesday, June 10, GO train service on Lakeshore West and Lakeshore East will be increased to provide frequent 15-minute service throughout most of the day. Across the network, this will mean nearly 3,000 weekly GO trips available during the tournament. 

Enhanced GO Transit and UP Express service for FIFA World Cup 2026™ Toronto fans from June 10 to July 5, 2026: 

  • Before and after Toronto match times, the Lakeshore West Line will operate up to six trains per hour between Exhibition GO and Union Station.  
  • GO bus service to Niagara Falls will be increased during the tournament period, with additional weekday and weekend trips on Route 12 to support regional travel. Regular service on Route 12 returns on Monday, July 20, 2026.  

Latenight service will also be available on GO Transit and UP Express throughout the week, making it easier for customers to get home safely after evening matches and events. Be sure to check gotransit.com and upexpress.com for the last scheduled trip of the night on your line or route. 

Regular service resumes Monday, July 6. It’s important to visit our website and check schedules for the most up to date departure times. Customers are also encouraged to sign up for On the GO Alerts to receive real time updates about trip schedules, delays or disruptions.
