In 2022, the City of Toronto launched a public art competition for integrated public artwork(s) as part of the redesign and replacement of the Overlea Boulevard Bridge and surrounding roadwork improvements.

In spring 2023, a specially convened Selection Panel composed of arts professionals and community members met to evaluate the artist submissions. The panel determined a shortlist of five artists/teams to proceed to the second stage of the competition.

Based on public feedback and comments from the Selection Panel, a winning submission was selected.
