The process below describes the actions taken and notices sent to collect unpaid parking violation penalties, unless there is a pending request to review your parking violation being initiated through the parking violation dispute process.
You have 15 days from the date of issue of your parking violation to pay the amount indicated on your notice or initiate a dispute.
If your parking violation is unpaid, you will be issued a Notice of Overdue Parking Penalty, with an Address Search Fee applied to the initial parking violation penalty amount. Payment is requested within 15 days.
If your parking violation remains unpaid, as of the 31st day, a late fee will be applied. No additional notification for the late fee will be sent.
If your parking violation remains unpaid, you will be issued a Notice of Default. Your notice will show the total amount due, including initial parking violation penalty amount, address search fee, late fee and a due date to make payment.
A Plate Denial Enforcement Fee will be applied to your unpaid parking violation and the matter will be referred for collection to the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) for plate denial. Your Ontario licence plate will not be renewed, and no new licence plates will be issued to you until the penalty and all fees are paid in full.
At this point, payments can only be accepted at Service Ontario Locations only. Check the status of parking violation online to view where payments can be accepted.
If you have completed a screening or hearing review concerning your Parking Violation Notice, the decision document will show the payable amount due by a requested due date.
If amount is not paid by due date, a plate denial enforcement fee is applied to amount owing, and payment will only be accepted at Service Ontario Locations. No additional notifications will be sent.
