The City of Toronto Archives has over 3,000 maps and aerial photographs in its collection. The following sets have been scanned and are available to view online.
Early atlases often show landowners' names, lot layout, lot and concession numbers, and other information. Some maps can be viewed here, others can be found by searching our database. You will have to visit the Research Hall to see the rest of the collection. Please feel free to ask Reference Desk staff for help in finding maps.
Mac users
As many of you are aware, the MrSid plug–in the Archives is using is not compatible with Macs. As a temporary workaround we are converting many of our online maps to jpeg2000 format. Once this project is completed, all users will be able to view many of our archival maps and plans online. We thank you for your understanding.
More maps and plans will be added soon.
To view and print these maps, you will have to download the free ExpressView Browser Plug-in (MrSID) for Windows from LizardTech.
This plug-in is compatible with Microsoft Windows using Firefox 2 or 3 or Internet Explorer 7 or 8 web browsers.
