New interface for Archives database

The Archives has rolled out a new user interface for our descriptive database. New features include easier search prompts, enhanced visual displays for our scanned photographs and the ability to print out a list of the boxes you want to order from the database, instead of writing the list out on a form.

Let us know how you like this new interface by e-mailing us at archives@toronto.ca.

The City of Toronto Archives holds a wide range of government and non-government documents, including photographs, that document the city's heritage. All our records contribute to an understanding of the development of Toronto, its natural and built environment, and the people who lived, worked, or had an impact upon the city.

These documents are described in the database, but you cannot see them online, except for a small selection of photographs. We invite you to visit the Archives and use our reference services to see the documents themselves.

You can do a basic search (keyword and/or dates) or an advanced search (form of material, level of arrangement, and other fields). You can also choose to search only for items that have been scanned and that you can see online.

If you have problems with or feedback about the database, please contact the database administrator.
