Greening Business

Greening Retail
Greening Retail is a Toronto and Region Conservation program that helps retailers implement environmental best practices. Greening Retail works in partnership with sector leaders, government agencies and other organizations to provide retailers with the strategies and tools they need to take action.

Green Economic Sector Development Strategy
Green economic development refers to activity that stimulates the economy, creates jobs and cleans up the environment - all at the same time.

The City of Toronto has completed a Green Economic Sector Development Strategy with a vision to become a globally recognized green industry hub.

Eco-Roof Incentive Program
Toronto's Eco-Roof Incentive Program aims to help Toronto's commercial, industrial and institutional sector take action on climate change by promoting the use of green and cool roofs. Awarded annually, eligible green roof projects will receive $50 / square metre up to a maximum of $100,000. Eligible cool roof projects will receive $2 - 5 / square metre up to $50,000. ChemTRAC Toxics Reduction Grants
Business associations, labour groups and community organizations are invited to apply for a grant of up to $25,000 for projects that train, educate or help staff and communities reduce their use and release of toxic chemicals, particularly those 25 substances listed under Toronto's Environmental Reporting and Disclosure Bylaw (Municipal Code Chapter 423). Water Buy Back Program
The Water Buy Back Program help businesses that use a lot water to identify areas that may be 'wasting' water and offers solutions and cash incentives.

This program allows the City to buy back water or sewer capacity that has been freed up by participants who have reduced water use in their operations.

Spray 'N' Save Program for Restaurants
The Spray 'N' Save Program helps restaurant owners to reduce water and gas consumption and to lower operating and sewage costs.

Toronto Water is partnering with Enbridge Gas Distribution Inc. to promote this program to restaurant owners in Toronto.
