Question Do I need a license for my animals?
Answer Licensing of dogs and registration of cats is required in the City of Toronto.

Question How do I adopt an animal?
Answer Contact your local Animal Services Centre or call 416-338-PAWS (7297). You can also adopt animals through other organizations such as Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCA), the Etobicoke Humane Society or the Toronto Humane Society.

Question What animals am I permitted to keep?
Answer Article II of Chapter 349-2 of the Municipal Code describes which animals are prohibited in the City of Toronto. You can find out about chickens, pigeons, exotic animals and more there.

Answer Contact Animal Services or call 416-338-PAWS (7297). This applies for both pets and wild animals.

Question How do I report an animal bite incident?
Answer If you have been bitten by an animal or your animal has been bitten by another animal, seek medical attention and immediately contact your local Animal Services Centre or call 416-338-PAWS (7297).

Question What can I do to help protect my property from wild animals?
Answer Learn ways from Animal Services on how to reduce problems by getting rid of sources of food and shelter on your property.

Question What can I do about mice, rats, termites and cockroaches?
Answer The City's Public Health Department will investigate restaurants and food premises for evidence of mice, rats and cockroaches. Investigation Services, Municipal Licensing & Standards, will investigate if a multi-residential property (apartment) has a problem. Contact 311 to find your area Investigation Services office.
