Flowers add colour and beauty to the Don Valley Parkway

Flowers were a beautiful addition to the Don Valley Parkway in the spring of 2008.

Daffodil, Scilla and Muscari bulbs planted along the Don Valley Parkway near Eglinton Avenue

Over 40,000 Daffodil, Scilla and Muscari bulbs were planted in the fall along the Don Valley Parkway near Eglinton Ave. and the flowers enhanced the beauty of this area.

These flowers are a beautiful addition to the area that the travelling public can see on their way into or out of the City. This is another example of the City’s efforts to improve all parts of the appearance of Toronto – our sidewalks, streets and other public spaces.

The bulbs were planted in one metre wide strips through the use of a modified tractor that plants the bulbs automatically, permitting long uninterrupted stretches of beds to be established.

Using a mix of Daffodil, Scilla and Muscari bulbs produces a range of different colours and plant appearances. These species of plants do not require any maintenance after flowering and will re-appear annually.
