If the City of Toronto grants permission for the banner installation,
the applicant will be responsible for the costs associated in carrying
out the following items:
- Pay for
additional costs incurred by the City of Toronto for the removal
of the banners
- Provide a
Certificate of Insurance to the City of Toronto
Required
information
The following information is required in order for the application
to be considered:
- Location
of banners
- Design of
the banner
- Hardware
attachment specifications
- Name and
address of the Installer
Pertinent
information
Banners can be placed on selected utility poles for a maximum of
60 days. Requests to extend the installation period after the 60
days must be made, in writing, and providing the poles are available.
Additional fees will apply for the extension.
Ornamental poles,
traffic lights poles, poles with conduit wires, and Urban Clearway
signs are not permissible for the installation of banners. Other
conditions may be stipulated by the City of Toronto, Toronto Hydro
and the Toronto Transit Commission regarding the installation of
banners on the poles.
The banner or
related equipment must have a vertical clearance of 2.7 m above
the level of the sidewalk or 5.5 m above the roadway designed for
vehicular traffic.
No electrical
displays are to be attached to the banner sign.
Banner signs
must not exceed a maximum width of one metre. The length of the
banner can vary in size.
The banner
sign must be erected and secured in position by the use of galvanized
wire cables or brackets and in accordance with any other requirements
deemed necessary by the Transportation Services division.
Any corporate
recognition on any banner sign must not exceed 20% of the total
area of the banner sign.
Refusal of
permit
You may be refused a permit if the location requested has already
been assigned to someone else or the poles requested are not suitable
for the installation of banners.
