Walking Strategy Upcoming Meetings

The City of Toronto is in the process of developing a Walking Strategy for the entire City.

Based on months of discussion with the public, external organizations and relevant City divisions and agencies, the City’s Walking Strategy will include visionary policy, infrastructure and programming to create a rich culture of walking in Toronto.

Walking is the sign of a healthy, safe and vibrant community. Improvements to the walking environment can have significant benefits to a community including; safe mobility for people of all ages, abilities and economic means, an improvement in air quality and reduced transportation emissions, healthier lifestyles and recreation opportunities, enhanced social interaction and local marketability as well as improved integration with other sustainable modes of transportation.

The Toronto Walking Strategy is a city-building initiative that will support the City’s Official Plan and other action plans including the TTC Ridership Growth Strategy, the Transit City Plan and the Toronto Bike Plan.
