The City invites you to learn more about the planned improvements on Symes Road, Orman Avenue and Hilldale Road at a Virtual Public Information Event that will take place on Monday, September 27, 2021. See event details in the Consultation accordion below.

The City of Toronto is planning several road safety improvements that will be carried out as part of upcoming road reconstruction, road resurfacing and watermain replacement work on Symes Road, Orman Avenue and Hilldale Road. Work is expected to start in 2022. Once complete, this project will improve conditions for people walking, cycling and driving. A Construction Notice with detailed information about construction will be mailed to area residents and businesses before the work begins.

Virtual Public Information Event

This Public Information Event will be conducted online and by telephone. This is based on the expert advice of City’s Medical Officer of Health to practice physical distancing, to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 and to protect Toronto residents and staff. At the virtual public information event, City staff will present the project and provide an opportunity to ask questions.

  • Reduced road width

Symes Road (from Terry Drive to Orman Avenue)

  • New curbs and sidewalk (north side)
  • Reduced road width
  • Enhancements to crossing at Lavender Creek Trail
  • Accessible pedestrian crossings with tactile plates

Orman Avenue (from Symes Road to Hilldale Road)

  • New curbs and sidewalk (west side)
  • Reduced road width
  • Accessible pedestrian crossings with tactile plates

Hilldale Road (from 35 metres south of Orman Avenue to Humber Boulevard)

  • Reduced road width

State of Good Repair Improvements

  • Construction of new watermains to enhance the operation and the reliability of the water distribution system on Symes Road from Terry Drive to Orman Avenue and Orman Avenue from Symes Road to Hilldale Road.
  • Reconstruction of the road, including new curbs and sidewalks on Symes Road from Glen Scarlett Drive to Terry Drive.
  • Resurfacing a section of the road to maintain road base state of good repair on Symes Road from Terry Drive to Orman Avenue and Orman Avenue from Symes Road to Hilldale Road.
