Inspectors conduct inspections on request or based on complaints about potential fire code violations.

 

For fire-related services (including Fire Inspections, reviews of Fire Safety Plans, and requests for information or records), please email tfsinspections@toronto.ca with your name, the address you are requesting a service for, and what kind of service you are requesting. You can also download and fill out the Request for Service PDF form and email us the completed form.

Contact tfsinspections@toronto.ca if you have a complaint about fire safety concerns or if you suspect someone of violating the Ontario Fire Code. Please include the following information:

  • The address of the complaint and any contact information you may have for the owner
  • The reason for your complaint / the suspected violation
  • (Optional) Your full name and contact information

To request the designation of a fire route as specified in Chapter 880 of the City of Toronto Municipal Code, please download the below application form and send the completed form to tfsinspections@toronto.ca.

Once you have submitted the required information and forms to tfsinspections@toronto.ca, our staff will review your submission and direct it to the appropriate Command office. For Fire Inspections and other requests, one of our Command offices will contact you by phone for more details and to arrange payment. Payment can only be made by debit, credit or cheque. Cash will not be accepted.

If you have submitted a complaint about a residential property and are wondering about the status of the inspection, you can look up the property in our Fire Inspection Results portal.

The Fees for inspection services are in accordance with Toronto municipal Code Chapter 441, Fees and Charges. Details for your specific inspection request will be provided by the inspector on the file, details generally about fees can be found on the Fire Prevention and Rescue fees page.
