Art project proposals are now being accepted for Nuit Blanche 2024. Curator call is now closed.

The City of Toronto is looking for artists to present art projects at Nuit Blanche Toronto on October 5, 2024. Submissions will be assessed and selected based on artistic merit, project feasibility and relevance to the theme, Bridging Distance.

Works by contemporary artists, artist collectives and collaborations between artists, researchers or creators working in other disciplines relevant to the theme are welcomed and encouraged to submit. Proposals that play with distance in their content and form will be of particular interest; these may include performances that travel over multiple areas and virtual experiences that connect audiences in separate locations simultaneously.

Independent Projects are self-produced, self-funded works that are presented in partnership with the City of Toronto. They can activate and transform neighbourhoods across the city in traditional and non-traditional spaces, including the public realm, parks, galleries, storefronts, office towers, streets, sidewalks, etc.

Projects led by Toronto-based practicing artists and collectives are encouraged to submit an application. Proposals should have a strong visual art component, be rooted in contemporary art practice and respond to this year’s theme.

Selected Independent Projects will receive an honorarium towards artist fees and materials up to $1,750 CAD.

For more information about the Independent Project Program, please contact Independent Projects Coordinator, Gabrielle Johnson, at 647-459-6844 or Gabrielle.Johnson@toronto.ca.
