Allotment plots and benches can be booked by residents who wish to grow vegetables and flowers for their personal use. Each plot/bench is located within an Allotment Garden or greenhouse that the City of Toronto manages.
Outdoor allotments are open from the beginning of March to mid-November and are closed from mid-November to the end of February. Indoor allotments are open from the beginning of October to mid-May and are closed from mid-May to the end of September.

Greenhouses may be very hot or very cold, and users should dress according to the weather.
The use of a plot is at the risk of the Permit Holder and is subject to all City of Toronto policies. Allotments are governed by Municipal Parks By-Law 608.

Vandalism, damage, or repairs must be reported to 311.
Failure to comply with the conditions of use may result in permit cancellation.
A permit holder must be a City of Toronto resident. Proof of residency may be requested.
Plots not tended to or planted on by June 1 without notifying the City may be offered to another applicant.
Plots cannot be reassigned. Available plots are offered to the waitlist if available.
Plants can be grown for personal use only.
Allotments cannot be used for commercial use. Commercial use is the selling of produce or growing large quantities of a single crop for profit.
Permit holders cannot modify plot size, remove signs or use common areas for storage.
Only organic growing is allowed. Insecticidal soap, compost and clean soil are allowed.
Trees and tall plants must not shade other plots. No cannabis (per Cannabis Act), invasive plants or noxious weeds.
There is to be no dumping of garbage or waste, including household items, in allotments.
Permanent structures are not to exceed one metre (three feet) in height, including fences, shelters, greenhouses and canopies. Trellises for beans and other climbing plants must be temporary and removed at the end of the season.
Use the provided recycling/trash bins or dispose of waste responsibly.
Seasonal cleanup of all equipment and debris must be completed by November 13.
Items remaining after November 14 will be removed and costs invoiced to the permit holder.
Water source available mid-May to mid-September.
You are expected to be courteous to other permit holders, visitors, and staff. You are responsible for guest behaviour and the cleanliness of your plot.
No abusive language, smoking, alcohol, or loud music.
You are responsible for your personal safety during severe weather, heat and cold.
No pets are allowed in Garden Allotment Areas.
May not enter or park in garden, parks, or hydro lands (except designated areas).
