Ongoing & upcoming construction projects

  • 169 Viewmount Ave - Viewmount Park - construction project is currently underway within Viewmount Park. There is no access to the park from the north end parking lot. The washrooms will also be closed in the Community Centre building. Portable toilets will be in placed along the central pathway within the park.  There are signs posted at various entry points alerting the public of the construction and alternate routes of travel/access. The construction is expected to be completed by April 1st, 2026.
  • 4760 Eglinton Ave W - Is currently under CREM jurisdiction. This piece of green land  is in progress to be transferred to PFR for a park however, at this time requests should be sent to CREM. 
  • Baycrest Park - Improvements include a new central plaza, a pavilion with floral garden beds, a seating area, new pathways throughout the park and a new ramp entrance connecting the park to Yorkdale Station to improve access.  For more information visit Baycrest Park Improvements
  • Bluffer's Park - Work is underway to replace the sanitary line, forcemain, and East washroom, along with park landscape upgrades. A lane closure is in place on Bluffer’s Park Road from the East washroom to the west parking lot. This phase will be completed by end of November. Washroom replacement and additional park upgrades will begin in late fall 2025 and are expected to finish by winter 2027. Bluffer's Park East Washroom & Sit Improvements.
  • Centennial Recreation Centre (1967 Ellesmere Rd, Scarborough) - Parks & Recreation will be carrying out improvements at Centennial Recreation Centre. The work involves interior and exterior state-of-good-repair upgrades to the facility. 
    1. Construction is schedule to commence in January of 2025.
    2. Completion is anticipated in Summer of 2025 (weather permitting).
    3. The facility and amenities are expected to remain open during the duration of the construction. 
  • Cliff Lumsdon Park - TRCA has begun construction to address ongoing shoreline erosion hazards and public safety concerns. For more information, please visit the TRCA website for the Cliff Lumsdon Park Revetment Project
  • Corktown Commons park  - A portion of Corktown Commons Park located at 155 Bayview Avenue has been fenced off and licenced to Metrolinx for construction of their Ontario Line Lower Don Enabling Works 2 Contract. To accommodate these construction activities, this Southern portion of the park will be under construction in 2023.
  • David Crombie Park -  Construction at David Crombie Park begins March 2026 and will continue in phases by block over approximately three years, with completion anticipated in 2028. Sections of the park will remain open during work, alongside coordinated cycle track improvements on The Esplanade.
  • Davisville Community and Aquatic Centre -  The City is building a new aquatic and multi-use community centre on the Davisville Junior Public School and Spectrum Alternative School site, east of the intersection of Yonge Street and Davisville Avenue. The facility will include two indoor swimming pools and several multi-purpose rooms to serve various community needs. Construction is expected to be completed in 2027
  • Earl Bales Park Amphitheatre at 4169 Bathurst St. - The project was substantially complete on November 30, 2023. The contractor has completed work on the new vestibule and elevator, rehabilitation of amphitheatre stage, various mechanical and electrical upgrades, accessibility improvements and partial replacement of existing pathways. The contractor is still on site addressing minor deficiencies and waiting for the TSSA to perform their final inspection, scheduled for April 19, 2024. Opening of the elevator for public use is subject to a TSSA approval, anticipated by the end of April 2024.The amphitheatre will be ready for public use, as planned, in the Spring 2024.
  • Fairbank Memorial Community Recreation Centre - Water Leak Repair Project. Construction begins August 2025 to address water leakage and related repairs. Portions of the building will be closed from August 22 to December 31, including: West entrance (Dufferin Street side), Select parking spots (west lot), Lower-level multipurpose room, kitchen, and washrooms. Completion is expected by Winter 2025.
  • Glen Stewart Park - Slope Stability Study. A geotechnical investigation study, overseen by the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, is being conducted to define erosion hazards and slope instability risks along the western boundary of Glen Stewart Park. The study will begin in August 2025, with a final report is anticipated for November 2025.
  • High Park Off-Leash Area Improvements - To address these key issues, the OLA improvement plan will include fencing installation and repair, gate removal and installation, and improved signage. Phase 2 construction is scheduled to begin July 2025 and expected to be completed December 2025. 
  • High Park Pedestrian Bridge - work will involve re-establishing the width of the pedestrian path, breaking up the existing soil, and restoration to ensure the area is returned to its original condition. Construction will only affect a portion of the pathway and it will still be accessible for pedestrians.
  • High Park Washrooms - Construction will be taking place at the Lower Hillside Washroom located in High Park. The work is scheduled to begin Fall 2025 and is expected to be completed by Winter 2026. 
  • Joyce Trimmer Park  - beginning January 27, 2022 city contractor will start erecting a construction fence around the construction zone at Joyce Trimmer Park. The park will be closed to the public during the entire construction and will re-open in September 2025.
  • Lambton Woods Trail - Beginning September 2025, Phase 2 of the Lambton Woods Trail Improvement Project will commence to enhance sections of the Lambton Woods Natural Environment Trail. The work will include the replacement of trail steps, installation of culverts, and other improvements to support trail safety and accessibility.
  • Marie Curtis Park (work near this park) - Peel Region will be conducting investigation work near Marie Curtis Park as part of a project related to their wastewater treatment plant. The work will involve drilling boreholes both offshore (in Lake Ontario) and onshore to collect soil and rock samples for testing and analysis. Offshore work is scheduled to begin the first week of August 2025 and will involve two barges operating in the lake throughout the summer and fall. For more information, including project details and contact information, please visit the project website.
  • Marie Curtis Park West -  Work has begun at the west edge of Marie Curtis Park to better connect the Waterfront Trail between Toronto and Mississauga.  When completed, this connection and the trail currently under construction in Mississauga’s Jim Tovey Lakeview Conservation Area will allow trail users to continue east and west along the waterfront rather than having to divert north to Lakeshore Road in Mississauga as is currently the case. The construction area for the trail connection in Marie Curtis Park West has been fenced off.  Only a very small portion in the southwest corner of the park is affected.  Tree removal permits were obtained from Urban Forestry, and one tree has already been removed.  Six other trees will be removed in the near future, and compensation planting for the trees removed is part of the scope of work. The work in Marie Curtis Park is anticipated to be complete by June of next year.  However, the corresponding trail in Mississauga will not be opened for use until later in 2025.
  • Martin Goodman Trail - Work to resurface the trail will begin on October 20, 2025, and continue until mid-November. The work will take place starting at Unwin Bridge and extend east to the Cherry Beach parking lot.
    The entire section of the trail will be closed during construction, but a detour will be available for trail users.
  • Morningside Park - TRCA on behalf of the City of Toronto is preparing the extension of the trail connection project in Morningside Park.  This will establish an important trail connection through the Highland Creek Corridor. 
  • Pine Point Park: The parking lot within Pine Point Park (Ward 1 - Etobicoke North) will be locked closed to facilitate important infrastructure works being undertaken by Hydro One. Closure is scheduled on October 28, 2024 and subject to construction being completed, is expected to re-open mid-May 2025.   • Ramsden Park - Upgrades are currently in progress to enhance the artificial ice rink at the park. Additional work includes repairs and improvements to the buildings change rooms and washrooms. All renovations are expected to be completed by winter 2026.

  • Tam Heather Curling & Tennis Club - The HVAC Replacement Project. The scope of work includes installation of new HVAC units and related mechanical works. Please be advised that the construction work was substantially complete on December 12, 2023. All new HVAC units are installed and running. Currently, the contractor is finalizing minor additional items including duct cleaning. The Curling Club continues to remain open.
  • Terraview Park, 1625 Pharmacy Ave. Beginning July 2025, construction will begin to improve the existing playground and splash pad. Construction notices have been posted on site. Work is scheduled to be completed by September 2025.
  • Trinity Bellwoods Park, 790 Queen St W. A section of the park will be under construction starting September 23, 2024 for pathway improvements. Improvements include resurfacing the asphalt pathways, slope stabilization, catch basin repair, topsoil and seeding. 
  • Underpass Park - As part of the City’s rehabilitation work on the Eastern/Adelaide Bridges, the section of Underpass Park between St. Lawrence Street and Lower River Street will be closed starting September 3 until Spring 2025. Learn more at Rehabilitation of Eastern/Adelaide Bridges – City of Toronto  
  • Wilket Creek Park - The bridge located near the washroom building in Wilket Creek Park will be closed due to bridge replacement and creek bank restoration work. This closure is expected to start from Fall 2025 to Spring 2026.
