Ongoing & upcoming construction projects

  • 176 Broadway Ave  (new parkette): The park will be closed temporarily for a couple of days starting on July 16, 2024 while additional work is being done. 
  • 4760 Eglinton Ave W - Is currently under CREM jurisdiction. This piece of green land  is in progress to be transferred to PFR for a park however, at this time requests should be sent to CREM. 
  • Baycrest Park - Improvements include a new central plaza, a pavilion with floral garden beds, a seating area, new pathways throughout the park and a new ramp entrance connecting the park to Yorkdale Station to improve access.  For more information visit Baycrest Park Improvements
  • Cedarbrook Community Centre
    The Elevator Replacement Project at the Cedarbrook Community Centre. The scope of work includes installation of a new elevator. Construction work is in progress, and staff anticipate the project will be substantially complete by December 2023. The community centre continues to remain open during the construction period, and with minimal interruption to patrons. 
  • Centennial Recreation Centre (1967 Ellesmere Rd, Scarborough) - Parks & Recreation will be carrying out improvements at Centennial Recreation Centre. The work involves interior and exterior state-of-good-repair upgrades to the facility. 
    1. Construction is schedule to commence in January of 2025.
    2. Completion is anticipated in Summer of 2025 (weather permitting).
    3. The facility and amenities are expected to remain open during the duration of the construction. 
  • Cliff Lumsdon Park - TRCA has begun construction to address ongoing shoreline erosion hazards and public safety concerns. For more information, please visit the TRCA website for the Cliff Lumsdon Park Revetment Project
  • Corktown Commons park  - A portion of Corktown Commons Park located at 155 Bayview Avenue has been fenced off and licenced to Metrolinx for construction of their Ontario Line Lower Don Enabling Works 2 Contract. To accommodate these construction activities, this Southern portion of the park will be under construction in 2023.
  • Davisville Community and Aquatic Centre -  The City is building a new aquatic and multi-use community centre on the Davisville Junior Public School and Spectrum Alternative School site (opens in new window), east of the intersection of Yonge Street and Davisville Avenue. The facility will include two indoor swimming pools and several multi-purpose rooms to serve various community needs.
  • Delma Park Playground: 38 Delma Dr. Construction for the playground improvements will start in early July. The laneway between Fulham Dr. and Delma Park will be closed for the duration of the playground improvement work. 
  • Earl Bales Park Amphitheatre at 4169 Bathurst St. - The project was substantially complete on November 30, 2023. The contractor has completed work on the new vestibule and elevator, rehabilitation of amphitheatre stage, various mechanical and electrical upgrades, accessibility improvements and partial replacement of existing pathways. The contractor is still on site addressing minor deficiencies and waiting for the TSSA to perform their final inspection, scheduled for April 19, 2024. Opening of the elevator for public use is subject to a TSSA approval, anticipated by the end of April 2024.The amphitheatre will be ready for public use, as planned, in the Spring 2024.
  • Ellesmere Reservoir Park Sportsfields Improvements (2950 Ellesmere Rd) - These upgrades aim to improve accessibility and playability to better serve the community. The project includes regrading and resodding the sportsfields, new cricket wickets, new accessible pathways, and new seating. The sportsfields will be closed during construction. Construction will begin Summer of 2024 and be completed Winter of 2024 
  • ET Seton Park - Please be advised that the rehabilitation work to the park road and trail at ET Seton Park is still ongoing with intermittent closures to the park road from Thorncliffe Blvd. to the fork at the bottom of the hill; the recreational trail from the Eglinton Ave Parking Lot to the south parking lot. Work is anticipated to be completed by  November 26th weather permitting.
  • Goulding Community Centre will be undergoing a state-of-good repair at 45 Goulding Avenue. Parts of the community centre will be closed for a period of time for improvements to the change rooms, washrooms, multi-purpose rooms, dance studio and gymnasium. The community centre will remain open, however, sections of the facility will be closed between September 2022 to June 2024. Project to be completed August 2024.
  • Grandravine Community Centre
    The overall project scope of work includes replacement of the exterior wall tile cladding on the North and West walls of the facility. The Construction Phase has commenced, and demolition of old exterior wall tile cladding has been completed. Currently, the contractor is installing angle bars and metal clips which will support the new exterior wall tile cladding. The project schedule has been revised to address unforeseen site conditions, and we anticipate that the project will be completed by the end of March 2025. The community centre will not be closed during the construction period, however, attempts will be made to minimize disruption of services. As a precaution and to ensure safety of patrons, safety fence is installed along the affected walls of the facility. 
    High Park Entrance Renewal - The City of Toronto will be rehabilitating the High Park Pedestrian Entrance at the intersection of Ellis Park Road, Valleymede Road and Dacre Crescent starting this spring. This park entrance rehabilitation is taking now place following the completion of several City construction projects in the area. This rehabilitation work will involve re-establishing the width of the pedestrian path, breaking up the existing soil and restoration to ensure the area is returned to its original condition.   • High Park Pedestrian Bridge - work will involve re-establishing the width of the pedestrian path, breaking up the existing soil, and restoration to ensure the area is returned to its original condition. Construction will only affect a portion of the pathway and it will still be accessible for pedestrians.
  • Joyce Trimmer Park  - beginning January 27, 2022 city contractor will start erecting a construction fence around the construction zone at Joyce Trimmer Park. The park will be closed to the public during the entire construction period from February 2022 – December 2024.
  • Magwood Park - Baby Point Stars
  • Marie Curtis Park West -  Work has begun at the west edge of Marie Curtis Park to better connect the Waterfront Trail between Toronto and Mississauga.  When completed, this connection and the trail currently under construction in Mississauga’s Jim Tovey Lakeview Conservation Area will allow trail users to continue east and west along the waterfront rather than having to divert north to Lakeshore Road in Mississauga as is currently the case. The construction area for the trail connection in Marie Curtis Park West has been fenced off.  Only a very small portion in the southwest corner of the park is affected.  Tree removal permits were obtained from Urban Forestry, and one tree has already been removed.  Six other trees will be removed in the near future, and compensation planting for the trees removed is part of the scope of work. The work in Marie Curtis Park is anticipated to be complete by June of next year.  However, the corresponding trail in Mississauga will not be opened for use until later in 2025.
  • Morningside Park - TRCA on behalf of the City of Toronto is preparing the extension of the trail connection project in Morningside Park.  This will establish an important trail connection through the Highland Creek Corridor. 
    Final paving and fencing at Phase 2 will commence on Monday July 31st, followed by fencing at Phase 3A & 3B on Monday August 7th.  Trail closures will be in effect for the duration of the work (approximately 1 month at each phase) and Notice of Construction signs outlining closures along each phase are located at primary access points. 
  • Osler Playground Park : Construction is underway at Osler Playground and the adjacent school grounds. The park and school grounds will be closed to the public during construction. Visit Project Updates for more information.
  • Pine Point Park: The parking lot within Pine Point Park (Ward 1 - Etobicoke North) will be locked closed to facilitate important infrastructure works being undertaken by Hydro One. Closure is scheduled on October 28, 2024 and subject to construction being completed, is expected to re-open mid-May 2025.   • Trinity Bellwoods Park, 790 Queen St W. A section of the park will be under construction starting September 23, 2024 for pathway improvements. Improvements include resurfacing the asphalt pathways, slope stabilization, catch basin repair, topsoil and seeding. 
  • Tam Heather Curling & Tennis Club - The HVAC Replacement Project. The scope of work includes installation of new HVAC units and related mechanical works. Please be advised that the construction work was substantially complete on December 12, 2023. All new HVAC units are installed and running. Currently, the contractor is finalizing minor additional items including duct cleaning. The Curling Club continues to remain open.
  • Underpass Park - As part of the City’s rehabilitation work on the Eastern/Adelaide Bridges, the section of Underpass Park between St. Lawrence Street and Lower River Street will be closed starting September 3 until Spring 2025. Learn more at Rehabilitation of Eastern/Adelaide Bridges – City of Toronto  
  • Wilket Creek Park - The bridge located near the washroom building in Wilket Creek Park will be closed due to bridge replacement and creek bank restoration work. This closure is expected to start from Fall 2025 to Spring 2026.
  • Yonge Street Linear Parks
    The City is improving George Hislop and Norman Jewison Parks. The work will include new paths, seating, lighting, planting, trees and special features including integrated LGBTQ2S+ and Indigenous art. Construction will begin in Spring 2023 and completed in Fall 2023 (weather permitting).
