News Release
November 2, 2021

Today, Mayor John Tory announced that 84 per cent of eligible Toronto residents have now received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

This means that more than 2.3 million eligible Toronto residents have received two doses and completed vaccination.

As of November 1, 2021 at 8 a.m., the City of Toronto and Team Toronto partners have administered over 4.9 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, with 84 per cent of eligible residents who have received two doses of the vaccine and 87.7 per cent of eligible residents who have received at least one dose of the vaccine. The City of Toronto, Toronto Public Health (TPH) and Team Toronto health partners continue the data-based approach to bring vaccinations directly to residents, in order to reach its goal of 90 per cent of eligible Torontonians being fully vaccinated.

TPH continues to urge residents to get vaccinated, if they have not done so already. Vaccines have been proven to lower the risks of severe illness, hospitalization and death. As of July 11, 2021, the majority of residents who have been hospitalized, admitted to the intensive care unit, intubated or died from COVID-19 in Toronto were only partially vaccinated or were unvaccinated.

In addition to City-run clinics, doses will continue to be offered by Team Toronto partners and Toronto Public Health today at the following locations:

  • Main Square Community Centre, 12 to 4 p.m.
  • Rexdale Community Hub, 12:30 to 6:30 p.m.
  • Trinity Community Recreation Centre, 2 to 6:30 p.m.
  • Amesbury Park Library, 2 to 6 p.m.
  • Broadlands Community Centre, 4 to 8 p.m.

Quotes:

“We continue to make progress getting people vaccinated. I want to thank the more than 84 per cent of eligible residents who have stepped up to get two COVID-19 vaccine doses. I also want to thank everyone involved in the Team Toronto effort that has administered more than 4.9 million doses of vaccine so far. This is great work but we must keep going and help more residents get vaccinated so we can truly bring this pandemic to an end.”

– Mayor John Tory

“In this vaccination campaign, Torontonians have stepped up to protect themselves and our city. With 84% of eligible Torontonians now fully vaccinated – and nearly 88% with their first dose – our 90% target is within reach. In the coming days, weeks, and months our Team Toronto network will continue to reach out to everyone, everywhere to make sure that we get our city vaccinated. In this campaign, millions of Torontonians are now vaccinated, and just thousands are left. Let’s keep going, Toronto.”

– Councillor Joe Cressy (Spadina-Fort York), Chair of the Board of Health

“I extend my deepest thanks to all Toronto residents who have come forward to get their COVID-19 vaccines. We are very close to our 90 per cent goal, and I have no doubt that we will reach that target soon. I also wanted to thank my team at Toronto Public Health and our healthcare partners who continue to work incredibly hard to make vaccines accessible to all residents.”
