News Release
October 26, 2021

In the three days that #VaxInTheSix COVID-19 vaccine clinics were in operation at six subway stations, Team Toronto vaccination partners administered 877 doses of COVID-19 vaccine. From Thursday, October 21 to Saturday, October 23, residents dropped by the clinics for their first or second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Below is a breakdown of doses administered by subway station:

  • Bathurst – 143 doses
  • Finch West – 153 doses
  • Islington – 171 doses
  • Kennedy – 191 doses
  • Clair West – 130 doses
  • Union – 89 doses

The vaccination campaign is a Team Toronto partnership between Toronto Public Health (TPH), the TTC, Humber River Hospital, Michael Garron Hospital and East Toronto Health Partners, and the City of Toronto,

The clinics were selected by TPH as part of the Team Toronto Mobile Strategy data approach aimed at continuing to remove barriers and bringing vaccines to residents in areas and settings with low vaccination rates and to residents who are at high risk of contracting COVID-19.

With each vaccination campaign (VaxInTheSix, VaxGiving, Shop And Vax), and ongoing access to COVID-19 vaccines at walk-in, City-run clinics and pop-up and mobile clinics operating across the city, Toronto moves closer to Team Toronto’s goal of 90 per cent of eligible residents fully vaccinated.

Quotes:

“Setting up COVID-19 vaccine clinics where people live, work and play works. #VaxInTheSix brought the vaccine directly to people in six subway stations over three days. I visited Bathurst Station on Saturday to thank our Team Toronto vaccinators and to encourage people to get vaccinated. We are working non-stop to help people get vaccinated so we can protect the progress we have made.”

– Mayor John Tory

“Every person who gets vaccinated against COVID-19 helps to make our city safer. I was glad to join Mayor Tory at Bathurst Subway Station this weekend to have the chance to thank our TTC and hospital partners who have made tremendous strides in getting Toronto vaccinated through mobile and pop-up clinics in transit stations. By bringing vaccines directly to people, we’re making sure everyone in our city can quickly and easily get vaccinated.”

– Councillor Joe Cressy (Spadina-Fort York), Chair of the Toronto Board of Health

“Getting Toronto to the 90 per cent vaccinated rate is a shared goal for everyone in the City. We at the TTC are proud to play our part in helping reach that milestone. I want to thank and commend everyone who has taken advantage of our convenient clinics to get their shots, as well as Toronto Public Health and our community health partners for their continuing support.”
