StreetARToronto Conlins Road Cycle Track Art Project celebrates diversity, inclusion, and the health and wellness benefits of active transportation and a vibrant public realm! StreetARToronto (StART) is delighted to collaborate with the Toronto Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) Meadoway initiative on the design and delivery of this art project.
The City of Toronto is committed to enhancing Toronto streets and trails, including the installation of concrete “jersey” barriers in key areas to help ensure pedestrian, cyclist, and TTC passenger safety.
Artists interested in being considered by the Advisory Committee to paint up to four concrete barriers along Conlins Road between Sheppard Avenue and Good Road are invited to express their interest by completing one of the Expression of Interest forms below:
The goal of this Call is to establish a roster of artists who will be eligible to participate in the project. StART Conlins Road Cycle Track Art Project Curators will invite artists on the Roster to submit a design concept in response to project themes that have been generated by the local community. Cycle Track Concrete Barriers are fantastic entry-level ‘canvasses’ for artists wishing to work their way through StART’s Career Ladder for Artists.
This application will be live until 11:59 p.m., March 7, 2022.
The City is considering a range of options to enhance Toronto streets and trails, including the installation of concrete “jersey” barriers in key areas to help ensure pedestrian, cyclist and TTC passenger safety.
To beautify these concrete barriers, and animate the paths, the City is seeking submissions from both street artists, and digital and graphic artists, to become part of a roster of artists to create designs to be hand painted by on individual concrete barriers, or, digitally reproduced on two-dimensional vinyl wraps for installation on the barriers.
The Conlins Cycle Track Art Call is now open!
