Many recreation programs are adapted to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities. To ensure a safe, enjoyable and rewarding experience, classes are smaller, additional assistance is provided and sometimes adaptive equipment is used. To access Adapted and Inclusive Services (AIS) you need an AIS membership.

Accessible Recreation programs include:

Learn a new craft or improve your existing creative skills with our arts programs. Our qualified staff will teach you the technical skills to take your talent to the next level. Weekly group classes and workshops are available.

Programs include:

  • Visual Arts and Crafts: acrylic painting, art club, cartooning, ceramics, clay, crafty creations, crochet, drawing, drawing and painting, jewellery making, knitting, multi arts, oil painting, photography, pottery, sculpture, sewing, watercolour painting, wood working, young artist
  • Dance: ballet, ballroom, basics, belly dance, Bollywood, breakdance, Caribbean, contemporary, creative movement, Hawaiian, hip hop, jazz, K-pop, Latin, line dance, lyrical, salsa, tap
  • Music: African drumming, drumming, guitar, keyboard, orchestra discovery, piano, making music, singing
  • Performing Arts: creative writing, drama, musical theatre, puppet playhouse
  • Workshops: paint night, photography, jewellery making and more

Holiday CampTO is a winter-friendly camp experience that offers physical activities, active and quiet games, and arts and crafts activities. It is available at 19 locations across the city and starts on December 27 or January 2, to align with the winter school break. Children ages four to 12 years are welcome.

Adapted Holiday CampTO offers a safe, enjoyable and rewarding camp experience for individuals with disabilities, ages six to 12.

Single-day PA Day Camps are available for registration now. PA Days are on October 6, November 17 and December 8, 2023.

Get your heart rate up, achieve a great workout and have fun in our group fitness programs. A range of classes are available throughout the week to meet your needs.

Children may achieve their skating goals in our friendly and safe indoor classes. Some adult classes are also available. Programs include:

Learn a new sport or improve your game with our wide range of sports programs. Join us for recreational play or instructional lessons.

We offer swimming classes for children, youth, adults and older adults, at many levels. Participants will be able to improve their swimming skills, get out of their comfort zone and increase their knowledge of water safety. Our instructors ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all.

Guardian programs require caregiver in the water to participate.

Virtual programs include:

The City uses Cisco Webex Meetings for Virtual Recreation programs. Once registered, participants will be sent instructions by email on how to access the program online a few days before the class start date.

You will need:

  • a computer, smartphone or tablet with
    • internet access
    • a camera (optional)
  • access to the email account used for program registration
  • to install Webex on your device

Programs are popular and many have waiting lists. If you can no longer attend the program you are registered for, contact the community centre where the program is offered or call 416-396-7378, so the spot can be offered to someone else. If you do not attend the first two classes and have not notified us, you will be contacted and may be withdrawn from the program. This will allow others on the waitlist to participate. So…if you can’t go, let us know!
