The Intergovernmental Relations team works closely with the Government of Ontario and the Government of Canada to advance the City's interests.

City of Toronto Act

The City of Toronto Act gives the City broad powers to pass by-laws regarding matters that range from public safety to the city's economic, social and environmental well-being.

Toronto-Ontario Cooperation & Consultation Agreement

This agreement covers consultations between the City and the Province, and facilitates two-way consultation on significant policy and financial matters.

Federation of Canadian Municipalities

Membership of the Federation gives the City access to federal government decision-making processes and consultations on issues such as federal revenue sharing and a national policy agenda for urban issues.

Canada Community-Building Fund

The federal Canada Community-Building Fund transfers more than $2 billion annually to municipalities across the country providing a stable and predictable source of funding to support investments in municipal infrastructure.

City of Toronto-OLG Municipality Contribution Agreement

This agreement between the City and the Ontario Lottery & Gaming (OLG) Corporation enables the City to receive a portion of gaming revenues from gaming sites in its community.
