The City of Toronto, Toronto Public Health and healthcare partners are working to expand mobile vaccination efforts across the City to bring vaccine to neighbourhoods in greatest need.
Mobile vaccine clinics are part of a larger Team Toronto vaccination strategy that aims to meet eligible populations where they are. This helps remove barriers to the COVID-19 vaccine and increase vaccine uptake among local residents.
Mobile vaccination clinics are usually planned for specified local communities. This means that mobile clinics only provide vaccines to those living in the local neighbourhoods they are situated and are not open to all who live in priority neighbourhoods across the GTA or other populations eligible for vaccinations. Promotion and management of mobile clinics is being led by community partners who have trusted relationships in local neighbourhoods.
During the weeks of April 19 and 26, the Team Toronto mobile strategy will focus efforts in the following 13 priority neighbourhoods as identified by the provincial science table, recognized by the first three digits of the postal codes:
Hot spot areas are neighbourhoods identified by the Province of Ontario with ongoing and historic high rates of COVID-19 transmission, hospitalization and death. These areas were also identified by the province to have populations with higher risk factors including racialization, income, quality of housing, immigration status and education attainment.
Check eligibility requirements and where to get vaccinated above for these Toronto area COVID-19 hot spots:
Ontario Health Teams and hospital mobile clinics and pop-ups will be vaccinating people age 18 and older in these neighbourhoods, identified by their postal codes. People age 18 and older who live in these neighbourhoods cannot book using the provincial booking system.
Bookings are for residents aged 60+ or born in 1961 or earlier, and residents aged 50+ (born in 1971 or earlier) who live in hot spot postal codes.

Toronto hospitals and their partner Ontario Health Teams (OHTs) are accepting pre-registrations from priority populations identified as part of Phase I in the Ontario Vaccine Distribution Plan.
Adults receiving chronic home care who are eligible to receive the vaccine will be contacted this week.
People from these priority groups can now go to www.vaccineto.ca to access the pre-registration or appointment booking systems for sites near to them. People can also call 1-888-385-1910 for assistance to complete pre-registration forms and book appointments at local vaccine clinics operated by participating hospitals and OHTs.
COVID-19 vaccinations in Toronto are by appointment only and there are no walk-in clinics at this time. Eligible individuals should only sign up at one vaccination clinic site and are asked to not pre-register or book appointments at multiple locations. Individuals are also encouraged to pre-register or book an appointment at the clinics nearest to where they live and, in the case of health care workers, closest to where they work.
All parts of the vaccination program are dependent on vaccine supply and direction from the Province. Vaccine supply is expected to increase substantially in the coming weeks.
Residents should not call 3-1-1 or hospital directly to book appointments nor should they attend a clinic unless they have a confirmed appointment.

The Vaccine Equity Transportation Plan begins March 29. The City is piloting transportation services for seniors 75 years of age or over who may be unable to access or afford existing transportation options to get to their vaccination appointments.
Transportation options will eventually be expanded to include people with disabilities, seniors under 75 years old and others who are frail or have underlying conditions which make them at greater risk from COVID-19 and/or render them unable to safely access other modes of transportation.
This program is intended for those who have no other options for transportation to vaccination appointments.
Torontonians are encouraged to help their family members, friends and neighbours with booking their vaccination appointments and providing a ride to their appointments.
A support person or family member can accompany you on the ride, if needed.
Note that transportation vehicles are not accessible and clients should be able to step into the vehicles (with assistance). There will be approximately one hour between drop off at the vaccination clinic and pick up after the appointment.
Transportation is delivered through a collaborative network of City and Ministry of Health funded community not-for-profit agencies that provide rides to vaccination clinics such as City-run immunization clinics, hospitals or pharmacies.
People who receive social assistance may be eligible for medical transportation funds to help cover costs of travel to receive their COVID-19 vaccination. Social assistance recipients should contact their caseworker to access transportation funds they may be eligible for.
Uber Canada has made a generous donation of voucher codes for individual rides.
Starting April 6, these vouchers will be distributed to a network of partner community organizations to provide to people who have no transportation options, live in communities with high rates of COVID-19, who have challenges travelling to be vaccinated, as well as for some people with disabilities. Uber Canada vouchers are limited and are not guaranteed.
The TTC is working with the City to distribute 15,000 TTC ride vouchers through a network of partner community agencies across Toronto to provide to people who cannot afford transit fare, with no-cost rides to and from vaccination sites starting in April.
Existing Wheel-Trans customers can book rides to and from their vaccine appointments by calling Wheel-Trans Reservations at 416-393-4222, seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. or online at the Wheel-Trans Self-Booking.

Wheel-trans will be reaching out to its approximately 26,000 customers regarding this initiative via email blast, a bulletin on its booking website and a recorded message on its Customer Service line.
There is a limited supply of vaccines available in Ontario at this time. The provincial government has a three phase plan to distribute vaccines, starting with people who are vulnerable to severe illness and death from COVID-19 and certain prioritized populations.
As more vaccines arrive, the vaccination program is expanded. Vaccination is underway for Phase 1 and Phase 2 in the the Province’s vaccination program. Details about Phase 3 timing, who is eligible and the status of completed vaccinations for Ontario is on the Province’s website.
The Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca (also known as COVISHIELD) vaccines require two doses. Depending on where you receive your COVID-19 vaccine, you may book an appointment for your second dose at the time of booking your first dose, or you may be asked to book an appointment for your second dose at a later date. You must get the same vaccine for both doses.
In Ontario, the interval between your first and second dose is up to four months, with very limited exceptions. If you are eligible to receive your second dose earlier due to a medical condition, your health care provider will contact you directly.
If you received your first dose at a hospital immunization clinic or pharmacy and do not yet have the second dose booked, please contact the hospital or pharmacy directly to book your second dose. The provincial booking system that is used for booking appointments at City immunization clinics requires you to book appointments for both doses at the time of booking. At this time, you cannot change the location for your second dose appointment.
