October 22, 2021

Today, Mayor John Tory announced that more than 83 per cent of eligible Toronto residents have now been fully vaccinated.

The City of Toronto and Team Toronto vaccination partners have now administered two doses of COVID-19 vaccine to 83 per cent of eligible Torontonians age 12 and older, while more than 87 per cent of eligible residents have received at least one dose. To reach this milestone, more than 4.8 million vaccine doses have been administered demonstrating the incredible efforts of the City’s health and community partners and Torontonians’ commitment to protect their health and the health of our city.

Progress continues to be made to reach 90 per cent of eligible Torontonians being fully vaccinated. In the last two months, more than 200,000 people have completed their vaccination. On August 15, 409,000 people needed to be vaccinated to reach Team Toronto’s goal of having 90 per cent of eligible people in Toronto fully vaccinated and 194,000 of people in that group already had one dose. Going into this weekend, 196,000 people now need to be fully vaccinated to reach the 90 per cent goal. Of those people, 116,000 have already received a first dose and are on their way to being fully vaccinated.

#VaxInTheSix brings COVID-19 vaccine clinics to six TTC subway stations today and tomorrow

This weekend, #VaxInTheSix is one of many Team Toronto efforts underway to increase access to vaccinations. The initiative highlights COVID-19 vaccine clinics operating at six TTC subway stations across the city to make it as easy as possible for Toronto residents to get vaccinated.

#VaxInTheSix began on Thursday, October 21 and continues today and tomorrow from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Bathurst, Finch West, Islington, Kennedy, St. Clair West and Union stations. Clinics offer first and second doses of Moderna and Pfizer vaccines on a walk-in basis.

#VaxInTheSix is a Team Toronto partnership including Toronto Public Health (TPH), the TTC, Humber River Hospital, Michael Garron Hospital and East Toronto Health Partners, and the City.

The clinics have been selected by TPH as part of the Team Toronto Mobile Strategy data approach aimed to continue removing barriers and bringing vaccines to residents in areas and settings with low vaccination rates and to residents who are at high risk of contracting COVID-19.
