Animal licensing
The Toronto Municipal Code Chapter 349, requires that all dogs and cats owned in the City of Toronto must be licensed and wearing a tag. By licensing your dog or cat, Animal Services will make every effort to reunite you with your pet.

Reduced fee opportunities for cat and dog owners
Toronto Animal Services offers reduced fee opportunities for cat and dog owners. Failure to license your cat or dog each year may result in a $240.00 ticket. If you are taken to court under the current law, the maximum penalty is a $5,000.00 fine. Be a responsible owner, license your pet today! The new licence/registration fee structure is as follows:

Personal assistance dog licences are free if a certificate is produced from The Canadian National Institute for the Blind or Hearing Ear Dogs of Canada.
If you declare that your animal has been sterilized, you will be required to provide the name, address, city and telephone number of your veterinary clinic.
Online payment
A new pet licence or pet licence renewal payment may be made by Visa, Mastercard or American Express. To protect your privacy and security it is recommended that you close the browser after completing the licence application.
License or renew your pet's licence online
You should be aware that there are laws in Toronto and Ontario that regulate the number of animals and the types of dogs that may be kept.
Please note to protect the secured exchange of information between you and the On-line licensing application, the use of Microsoft © Internet Explorer 5.0 +, Netscape 6.0 + or any comparable browser with at least 128 bit encryption is required.

mailed unless picked up at one of the Animal Centres.
