Leading the way in immigrant mentor recruitment
The City of Toronto was one of five corporate partners recognized for its leadership in mentor recruitment. The Mentoring Partnership, one of the Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council's (TRIEC) initiatives, has proven to be a successful strategy to get skilled immigrants closer to meaningful employment. The program brings together recent skilled immigrants and established professionals in occupation-specific mentoring relationships. Since 2004, over 5,300 skilled immigrants have been mentored by professionals from over 50 corporate partners.

Are you an internationally trained professional living in Toronto who needs help finding work in your field/occupation? If your training and experience is in one of the following fields - accounting/finance, city planning, communications, engineering, facilities management, fire service, human resources, information & technology, laboratory sciences, legal services, public health, public policy, purchasing & materials management, social policy, social work or special events planning/marketing and you are interested in being mentored by a City of Toronto employee working in these fields, visit The Mentoring Partnership

The Profession to Profession Mentoring Immigrants program responds to employment barriers faced by internationally trained professionals in Toronto by enlisting City staff to mentor recent immigrants who have training in related fields/occupations. Almost 544 internationally trained professionals have been mentored by City staff since the program began in 2004. The City of Toronto has collaborates with a consortium of community agencies to match experienced members of the Toronto Public Service with internationally educated immigrant professionals and mentor them for a period of four to six months. Mentors provide job search advice and support to help ease newcomers' transition into the Canadian job market.
