Browse a list of commemoration events and exhibits, including special displays at Old City Hall before, on and after Remembrance Day.

Attend a Remembrance Day ceremony on Tuesday, November 11 in your local community, honouring those who served and those who made the ultimate sacrifice. To mark two significant milestones in 2025: 80 years since the end of the Second World War and the 100th anniversary of the Toronto Cenotaph at Old City Hall, a special commemorative lighting projection is also on display nightly outside Old City Hall from November 5 to 11.

All locations, details and ceremony start times are listed below.

Tune in from anywhere to watch the ceremony at the Old City Hall Cenotaph on the City of Toronto's YouTube channel.

For more information about any of the City’s Remembrance Day ceremonies, including their accessibility, please contact protocol@toronto.ca.

Be moved by special commemorative projections outside Old City Hall nightly, November 5 to 11, from 6 to 11 p.m.

The display repeats every 30 minutes and marks two significant milestones: 80 years since the end of the Second World War and the 100th anniversary of the Toronto Cenotaph at Old City Hall.

To commemorate these anniversaries and the history of the Toronto Cenotaph, the west façade of Old City Hall will be illuminated with a moving visual display, paying tribute to those who served — and to those who never returned home.

The display features images from the City of Toronto Archives and the names of local heroes from Toronto’s Golden Book of Remembrance, honouring service members who gave their lives between 1939 and 1945.

Also featured are images and documents related to the history and construction of the Toronto Cenotaph at Old City Hall.

In Flanders Fields by John McCrae

Special musical arrangement by Lydia Adams, Elmer Isler Singers

In Flanders fields the poppies blow

Between the crosses, row on row,

That mark our place; and in the sky

The larks, still bravely singing, fly

Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago

We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,

Loved and were loved, and now we lie

In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:

To you from failing hands we throw

The torch; be yours to hold it high.

If ye break faith with us who die

We shall not sleep, though poppies grow

In Flanders fields.

POEM: TO OUR IMMORTAL DEAD by S. Morgan-Powell

Sergeant Garren Doerksen, 618 Queen’s City Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron

They died that we might live.

They fought their fight

And passed-beyond all sorrow and all pain.

But Love shall keep their memories ever bright.

Above the graves where their dead selves have lain

Flowers shall grow and greet the noonday sun

In bloom of beauty.

Our Immortal Dead,

So free in sacrifice, shall every one,

With nature blending, at the Dayspring’s head

Gather at last, and know the gift they gave

Was not in vain – that Freedom lifts her voice

Triumphant, as a tribute to the brave

Who died that she might live.

They shall rejoice,

Knowing the loved ones whom they left behind,

Safe in the heritage they fought to hold

For Canada.  And in our hearts enshrined

Their names shall live, their glorious tale be told,

So long as this Dominion guards the Right.

Their arms upheld in that unequalled fight.
