The Transit Construction Mitigation Fund provides funding to Business Improvement Areas (BIAs) and non-profit organizations for initiatives that support local business that are impacted by transit construction. This program is funded by the Government of Canada through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario).
The program provides funding to local business communities impacted by sustained transit construction projects on main street business communities, assisting BIAs and other eligible not-for-profit organizations to advance local, community-driven initiatives that will help to mitigate construction impacts through implementation of effective, innovative and creative solutions.
The program goals are to:
Grants are available up to $10,000, $25,000 or $50,000 for projects that meet eligibility requirements.
The Transit Construction Mitigation Fund program is available to the following organizations:
Applicants must be in good standing with the City of Toronto and a good track record with compliance grant funding requirements with previously funding projects.
Please note: For-profit businesses including sole proprietorships, partnerships and corporations are not eligible to apply.
BIAs and not-for-profit organizations are eligible for grants of up to $50,000 for a range of initiatives, such as:
Projects must support businesses impacted by sustained transit construction, including the Eglinton Crosstown, Finch West LRT, Ontario Line, Scarborough Subway Extension or Yonge North Subway Extension. Visit Transit Expansion for more information on active and planned projects.
