The City Planning Division is responsible for guiding and managing the growth and physical form of the city, and recommending strategies to enhance the urban environment and quality of civic life for Toronto’s residents and business community. The division’s services are provided through three main areas:
- Development review, decision and implementation
- Civic and community improvement
- City building and policy development
Development Review, Decision & Implementation
- Length of time to have a pre-application meeting after requesting one: Five to 15 business days
- Length of time to get on the agenda of the Design Review Panel after a pre-application meeting: Two to three months
- Length of time to get on the agenda for the Committee of Adjustment: One to three months
- Length of time from application to decision for most routine site plan applications: Four to eight months
- Time from application to decision for complex Official Plan amendments and Zoning Bylaw amendments: Nine to 18 months
- Length of time for Heritage Preservation Services to respond to a Demolition Permit Application: 60 to 90 days
