Toronto Economic Development Corporation (TEDCO) Board of Directors
now operating as Toronto Port Lands Company (TPLC)
Toronto Economic Development Corporation (TEDCO) now operates as Toronto Port Lands Company (TPLC).
TEDCO was established by the former City of Toronto Council in 1986 under the authority of the City of Toronto Act, 1985, to pursue real estate development and to promote employment revitalization in the City of Toronto. The legislation put certain constraints on TEDCO.
In October 2008, City Council created two new corporations - Build Toronto and Invest Toronto. Many of TEDCO's functions have migrated to these two new corporations. For lands awaiting future waterfront development, TEDCO will continue leasing and property management operations, and as requested by Council in August 2009, TEDCO has been re-branded as a Port Lands leasing company.
TEDCO is incorporated under the Ontario Business Corporations Act, with the City of Toronto as its sole shareholder.
