IROQUOIAN VILLAGE, C.1350-1400, AND ARCHAEOLOGICAL EXCAVATION OF THE 15TH-CENTURY PARSONS SITE The diagram shows an Iroquoian village, known as the Alexandra site, discovered during an archaeological assessment carried out in advance of a subdivision development in Scarborough. Researchers uncovered 17 longhouses (seen here in red) and three large middens (yellow), or disposal areas, around the edges of the community. The photograph on the right shows a recent excavation of the Parsons site near York University. Archaeologists are screening dirt in order to locate small artefacts.
