the Howards who founded beautiful High Park. It contains many original family artifacts, including some of their watercolours of early Toronto. Make a day of it! Tour Colborne Lodge, view the recreated heritage gardens and visit other nearby attractions in the park, such as the High Park Zoo, Grenadier Pond, Hillside Gardens and Jamie Bell Adventure Playground.

The Fort York Historic District Walking Tour: "Toronto's Changing Lakefront:"

Starting and ending at the canteen at Fort York National Historic Site, this special walking tour explores the evolution and history of Fort York and the nearby Lake Ontario shoreline. The tour traces the development of the Lakefront from the early British colonial era to the present day. Learn about the origins of Fort York, the fortification of the harbour, local railway & road building, and the subsequent industrial and recreational development of this vital area. Free. As the first Mayor of Toronto, William Lyon Mackenzie faced a series of challenges: accusations of bias from a divided, and at times, hostile council; a catastrophic accident at City Hall; the deadly return of cholera to Toronto, and perhaps his biggest challenge of all: building a city bureaucracy from scratch. This exhibit explores an eventful year in the life of the City, as shown through the ups and downs of Toronto's first, and still most controversial, Mayor.
