  • After 4 p.m., the City Clerk will declare the eligible candidate(s) to be elected and make a declaration for any acclamation provided.

Thursday September 20 – Friday September 21

  • Nomination period re-opens
    • Candidates for councillor and school board trustees can file new nominations, withdrawals, and change of ward notification forms.
    • Nomination deadline for mayoral candidates remains July 27 at 2 p.m
  • Forms will be accepted between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at the Election Services offices:
    • City Hall (100 Queen St W, 1st Floor North) and
    • 89 Northline Rd

Tuesday September 25

  • Candidates will receive, by email:
    • Free copies of the voters’ list made available through MyCampaign.

Tuesday September 25 – Monday October 22

  • Voters’ list revision period – Eligible electors whose name are not on the voters’ list or whose names are shown incorrectly on the list may add their name or correct their information by:
    • Online through MyVote, phone or email
    • Visiting the Elections Office or any of the Civic Centres
    • Visiting the voting place
  • Certification is now available of Voting Proxy Appointment forms for electors who cannot vote on any voting days

Wednesday September 26

  • Candidates will receive, by email:
    • Final expense limits
    • Final combined contribution limit (mayor and councillor candidates only)

  • Election and campaign office signs can be erected

Term of Office Commences

  • Elected members must take the oath of office prior to taking their seat.

Monday December 31

  • The end of the campaign period unless the candidate previously withdrew their nomination, their nomination was rejected by the City Clerk or the candidate applies to extend their campaign to erase a deficit
  • Last day for candidates to file an Extension of campaign period (Form 6)
  • Candidates who extend their campaign must file a primary and supplementary financial statement by the legislative deadline date

  • Penalties take effect at 2:01 p.m.
