On December 10, the City of Toronto will recognize the recipients of the 2019 Access, Equity and Human Rights (AEHR) Awards – the City’s highest honour to recognize people and organizations for their exceptional work to address discrimination and eliminate barriers to equality.

At the ceremony, which also marks International Human Rights Day, recipients will receive their award.

These individuals and organizations will receive the following awards this year:
• Individual Mino Bimaadiziwin Award (Indigenous Award): Ernest W. Matton (Elder Little Brown Bear)
• Organization Mino Bimaadiziwin Award: Toronto Council Fire Native Cultural Centre
• Individual Disability Access Award: Liv Mendelsohn
• Organization Disability Access Award: Surrey Place
• Individual William P. Hubbard Race Relations Award: Alexis Dawson
• Organization William P. Hubbard Race Relations Award: Colour of Poverty – Colour of Change
• Constance E. Hamilton Award for Women’s Equality: Elene Lam
• Pride Award: Adam Lake
