Drive carefully and stay alert. On Halloween, there are little monsters everywhere.
On Halloween night, children and their families come out in droves to participate in the annual tradition of costume wearing, candy eating and trick-or-treating. For drivers, this underscores the need for heightened vigilance and adherence to road safety measures.

In support of the City’s Vision Zero Road Safety Plan and its objectives, the “Halloween Road Safety” public education campaign reminders road users to drive carefully, stay alert and avoid putting lives at unnecessary risk.

If you’re driving on Halloween, please remember to:

  • Slow down and enter and exit driveways and alleys slowly and carefully even if you don’t see any trick-or-treaters.
  • Always use your turn signals and turn on hazard lights if dropping off or picking up children.
  • Be extra alert in residential neighborhoods and keep an eye out for our little monsters as they may dart into the street.

People walking, rolling or cycling on Halloween are encouraged to wear high-visibility clothing or small lights, and to practice extra caution as they trick-or-treat.
