City of Toronto opens 120,000 new vaccination appointments as eligibility expands to those age 18 and older today
As of this morning, everyone ages 18 and older will be eligible to book a COVID-19 vaccination appointment at a City of Toronto immunization clinic. In the first hour this morning when the age eligibility increased to 18 years and older, 8,926 people booked a vaccine appointment at a City-run clinic.
Today, Mayor John Tory announced that to help meet the needs of the increased number of people who are now eligible, 120,000 new vaccinations appointments have now opened at City-operated immunization clinics.
As Mayor Tory indicated Monday, he has been in discussions with Premier Doug Ford and provincial officials to open up more appointments, provided there is assured vaccine supply from the other governments, in the coming weeks. Approximately 40,000 new appointments are now available to book each week for the weeks of June 14, June 21 and June 28.
The increased appointment availability is spread across the City’s nine immunization clinics:
Appointments can be booked by eligible residents through the dark blue “Book a Vaccine” button on toronto.ca/covid-19 or by calling the provincial vaccine booking line at 1-833-943-3900.
City-run clinics are part of the Team Toronto vaccination network that includes hundreds of clinics operated by hospitals, pharmacies and other healthcare and community partners.
