The City of Toronto offers its deepest condolences to the family and friends of a resident at Cummer Lodge who tragically died earlier today following a fire near the lobby of the home.

The origin, cause and circumstances of the fire are under investigation by the Ontario Fire Marshal.

Cummer Lodge is home to 391 residents, operated by the City’s Senior Services and Long-Term Care Division, providing care that is guided by compassion, accountability, respect and excellence.

There were no other injuries and there was no damage to the facility.
